Colitis – an inflammation of the mucosa of the large intestine. It can be an independent disease or enter the symptom complex, when the small intestine is additionally involved in the inflammatory process (enterocolitis) and stomach (gastroenterocolitis).
Diet in colitis of intestines
- six meals a day, the basis of which is mashed, mucilage soups, puree, mushy, semi-liquid dishes;
- decrease in the amount of fats (up to 70 g) and carbohydrates (250 g);

- Exclusion of products containing fiber (vegetables, fruits, rye bread, whole grain bread and bran);

At an exacerbation the ration includes liquid and mashed porridges (rice, semolina) on water (milk and broths are excluded). Buckwheat porridge strengthens the motor, so when exacerbation is not recommended. It is convenient to use porridges for baby food, but half of them need to be diluted with water.

From drinks it is possible herbal decoctions, compotes and kissels, juice of chokeberry. Baked apples and pears are allowed. Particular attention should be paid to products that reduce bowel motility – decoctions and kissels from bird cherry, blueberries, quinces, dogwood, pears, strong black and green tea. In the period of exacerbation, some patients even tolerate poorly boiled vegetables, so it is better to exclude them. The use of milk, fermented milk products, sour cream, cheeses and cottage cheese is also not recommended.
Within a month after exacerbation, you must strictly adhere to the diet. After an exacerbation, the foods that promote hemopoiesis, red and black caviar, walnuts are introduced into the diet, and meat broths are gradually added. During a period of persistent remission, vegetables are allowed (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, onions).

Soups are prepared on water or low-fat and weak fish / meat broth, add a minimum of wiped vegetables (or vegetable broth), mashed meat, egg flakes, knels or meatballs. It is recommended to use low-fat varieties of beef, chicken, veal or turkey. Meat is additionally degreased, the bird is cooked without skin. From the minced meat, steamed meatballs, or meatballs.
Cutlets can also be cooked in a small amount of water. When cooking cutlets or meatballs, minced meat is added to the boiled rice. Allowed: herbal tea, rose hips, green and black tea, water without gas to 1,5 l per day. With good tolerability, dilute fresh juices from non-acid berries are allowed.
