Diet with intestinal infection – a few different menus that are prescribed separately for both children and adults. Its main goal is to replenish the lost trace elements and restore the water balance in the body.

It is prescribed exclusively by the therapist, because even an incorrectly selected diet can harm a dehydrated human system.

Nutrition in case of intestinal infection:

  • broths;
  • boiled cereals, for example oatmeal or semolina porridge;
  • crackers;
  • boiled potatoes.
  • weak tea;
  • apple juice or non-carbonated mineral water.

List of products from which use should be discarded, at the time of manifestation of the symptoms of the disease:

  • milk and sour-milk products;
  • all fried, fatty or spicy;
  • animal proteins such as pork, fatty fish;
  • raw vegetables, including salad greens, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and cauliflower;
  • fruits such as pineapple, orange, grapefruit and apple;
  • very hot or cold drinks;
  • alcohol, coffee or other compounds containing caffeine.

It is important to monitor the reactions of your own organism. If you eat too much, the symptoms may return.

It is important to observe the principles of nutrition not only in the acute period of the disease, but also to keep restrictions on certain foods for another two to three weeks, otherwise unpleasant symptoms may return.

What products are allowed

Products that need to be abandoned until you feel better:

  • spicy and fried foods;
  • any alcohol;
  • drinks with caffeine because they dehydrate the body;
  • Dried peas or beans;
  • raw vegetables or fruits (except bananas);
  • Bread from whole grains, cereals or bran;
  • Milk or sour-milk products (cheeses, yoghurts, kefir);
  • Nuts, seeds, coconuts, popcorn.

A diet plan for intestinal infection as it recovers.

  • pure soup or broth, miso;
  • mineral water (you can add a little sugar and mix), but not dietary soda.
  • diluted apple or cranberry juice (not orange);
  • tonic sports drinks;
  • pure water;
  • crackers;
  • lollipops;
  • weak tea with honey or sweetener.

Step 2 (Everything from 1 plus step):

  • applesauce;
  • bananas;
  • mashed potatoes;
  • boiled pasta;
  • rice without butter, margarine or sauce;
  • Refined cereals, such as rice loaves, popcorn, flakes, semolina;
  • toast (white or light rye bread) with jelly.

Step 3 (anything that relates to 1 or 2 plus):

  • baked or boiled lean meat of poultry or fish;
  • boiled eggs;
  • well-cooked vegetables and fruits without seeds or peel;
  • sherbet.

When the food of the current level is absorbed by the body, proceed to the next. Progress steps can be fast: from one meal to the next, once you feel better. Most people return to normal diet via 2 – 3 days.

If you find that a particular food exacerbates the state of health and general condition, then exclude it from the diet.

How to recover from an intestinal infection

Taking large amounts of food can cause spasms and diarrhea, so it is better to eat more often, but in smaller portions.

In the early days, all the ingredients must be cooked or steamed. Only in the absence of signs of deterioration, you can begin to give baked and fried.

Some dishes and drinks can cause increased signs of illness: high in fat and milk, with caffeine, and also gas-forming legumes and melons.

Which recovery method is appropriate

Expand the diet after a special diet should be gradual, based on the principles of eating relatively soft food with a low fiber content.

An example of some valid products:

  • chicken, turkey, fish, tender pieces of beef and pork meat, lean minced meat, eggs, creamy hazelnut oil, tofu, low-fat hot dogs.
  • juices without pulp, bananas, avocados, apple sauce, canned peaches and pears, boiled fruits without skin and seeds;
  • well-cooked or canned vegetables, potatoes without skin, tomato sauces, vegetable juices.
