What is this attack, because there was not the slightest prerequisite for any disease. Most likely, you picked up a rotavirus infection, which, as a rule, always begins unexpectedly. Rotavirus or as it is also called "intestinal flu" – one of the most common intestinal infections. At the first symptoms it is necessary to take immediate measures, namely to start to observe a medical diet directed on restoration of an organism after "food poisoning".

What is rotavirus infection?

Rotavirus infection is a contagious viral disease transmitted by airborne droplets, with the use of low-quality or spoiled food, and through dirty hands. Rotavirus affects the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, then is excreted from the body naturally. However, not every intestinal infection is rotavirus, it is possible to determine the diagnosis accurately by a laboratory test after passing the tests.

Symptoms of rotavirus infection:

According to statistics, about 137 million people in the world carry rotavirus infection, while only a quarter of them are hospitalized. In order to avoid hospitalization, it is urgent to take a number of measures to treat the disease. The main methods of treatment of rotavirus infection are: diet, drinking regimen and additional intake of rehydration solutions.

Basic principles of the diet for rotavirus infection in adults

In order to cure rotavirus infection at home, a mild, sparing diet should be used to compensate for the deficiency of fluid in the body.

The first thing to do is to exclude from your diet all dairy products, fatty, fried, smoked, pickled dishes, as well as sweets and fresh pastries.

In the early days, due to intoxication of the body, diarrhea and vomiting, there is a lack of appetite. However, in order to replenish all nutrient losses, it is necessary to eat, preferably 5-7 once a day, but in small portions. Food should be easily assimilated, have binding and astringent properties in order to prevent diarrhea. It is shown when eating a diet of cereals, low-fat soups, crackers from wheat bread. You can eat vegetables with a diet, but only in boiled, stewed or baked form.

With rotavirus, the human body is dehydrated, and therefore it is worth to drink as much liquid as possible. The drink is shown every 30 minutes by 50-70 ml. You can drink as purified water without gas, and compotes and kissels from berries, herbal decoctions. You can add sugar for taste.

For the early recovery, the use of rehydration solutions is indicated, which can be prepared independently at home (for example, rice decoction, rosehip from the dog rose), and purchase specialized medicines (hydrovit, regidron, human, touring) in the pharmacy, which are diluted with water and take half a cup every 1,5-2 hours.

Features of the diet for rotavirus infection in children

Rotavirus infection is much more likely to affect children, especially at an early age (up to 2 years). Symptomatic illness in children corresponds to adults, however, treatment is much more difficult, because in childhood the immune system is not yet fully formed. The main method of treating rotavirus infection in children is a diet, since there are no specialized drugs to combat rotaviruses.

If a child is breastfed during rotavirus infection, then you should continue to continue the normal diet, because the mother's milk contains all the necessary vitamins, immunuglubulins and other useful substances. In this case, it is worth giving up other complementary foods. Grudnichkov, who are on artificial feeding, should be switched to dairy-free diet (porridges and mixtures that do not contain lactose).

Diet with rotovirus in children 2-5 years according to Komarovsky is aimed at removing inflammation in the intestines and filling the deficiency of fluid in the body. In the first 2-3 days it is necessary to give the child cereals cooked on water without oil, lean broths, crackers. In the following days, you can gradually expand the diet, adding lean meat and fish, omelettes for steaming, potato, apple or carrot puree. As a snack, baked fruit (apples, pears) is recommended. At the stage of recovery, with the cessation of emetic reflexes, the normalization of temperature and stool, it is recommended that yogurts be included in the diet of the child to restore the intestinal microflora.

The basic rules of the diet for rotavirus infection according to Komarovsky:

That is why in the early days, dairy and sour-milk products should be completely excluded from the diet. However, to restore normal intestinal microflora, they are necessary, so it is important to competently continue to follow the diet after rotavirus infection, both to children and adults.
