Iron deficiency anemia is a fairly common pathological condition that occurs in people of different age categories, including in young children. It is characterized by a decrease in blood cells in the blood – erythrocytes (in other words, a drop in hemoglobin), which carry oxygen throughout the body and provide them with all internal organs. Naturally, with oxygen deficiency, the entire work of the body is disrupted and, above all, the brain suffers from this.

Therefore, one should not treat anemia irresponsibly. It requires urgent treatment, part of which is a special diet that allows you to increase the number of red blood cells and improve the functioning of the body.

Diet in Anemia: Basic Rules

Diet with anemia is a key point, because only it allows you to provide the necessary balance in the blood. As the name (iron deficiency) shows, this disease occurs due to iron deficiency. That is why a diet for anemia of adults and children, above all, is aimed at increasing the amount of this element in food.

A large number of animal and vegetable proteins are introduced into the diet, which contribute to the restoration of natural hemoglobin synthesis. In a day, you need to eat about 150 grams of protein, while it's best to choose veal or beef. It is these kinds of meat that contain much needed protein and iron.

At the same time, a diet with iron deficiency anemia restricts the consumption of fats, as in this disease, patients often have abnormalities in liver function and obesity of the bone marrow. It is for this reason that when anemia doctors recommend eating products that have a lipotropic effect (they will protect the bone marrow and liver).

In a day you can not eat more than 70 grams of fat. In this case, preference should be given to easily digestible fats, which are contained in dairy products, sunflower and vegetable fats.

Therapeutic diet for anemia involves a daily intake of yeast and liver (approximately 100 grams). Yeast is used as follows: you need to pour 50 gram of fresh yeast with cold water (100 ml) and bring to a boil, cool and drink.

Counting carbohydrates in anemia is not necessary. They can be consumed as before. The daily norm for an adult is about 400-500 grams.

Products to be consumed daily

Every day the patient with iron deficiency anemia should consume the following foods:

  • liver;
  • Rye bread;
  • buckwheat porridge;
  • cottage cheese;
  • yeast;
  • butter;
  • dairy;
  • honey (at least one teaspoonful);
  • walnuts;
  • fresh vegetables and fruits;
  • briar (from it you can make a decoction and drink instead of tea).

During treatment of iron deficiency anemia, it is necessary to exclude, or at least limit the amount of consumption of the following products:

Treatment of iron deficiency anemia should occur in a complex manner. It is necessary to follow all the recommendations of the doctor. If you "sit" on a medical diet, this does not mean that you need to stop taking medications. They will only contribute to your speedy recovery.
